Edyth E. Young, Ph.D., boasts that she can teach anyone to read and read well. She has the record to back up her claims. Dr. Young is a certified reading diagnostician, curriculum developer, professional development coach, education evaluator, and learning researcher. She concentrates on helping young people written off as unteachable to learn to read with proficiency and succeed in school. She conducts her own private practice summer diagnostic reading clinic for children and adults.
On March 13, Dr. Young spoke at the Malcolm X College Karnak Wellness Institute and exposed the secrets of activating the Occipital Lobe of the human brain, thus unlocking the power of learning.
Dr. Young explained how the brain reads words, discussed the six syllable types and how mastering them will build anyone into a powerful reader. She then moved from reading words to comprehending their meanings and gave simple hints for decoding definitions, such as context clues.
Simply put, Dr. Young says everyone can read, read well, and learn.
