Chicago Police Narcotics Division officers climaxed a 2-month investigation tracking a recent spike in shootings and violence linked to street corner narcotics sales in the area of Ohio Street and Hamlin Avenue in the 11th District. Officers conducted strategic surveillance, recorded drug sales, made covert buys of narcotics, and infiltrated the gang operating the drug operation. They identified a dozen key targets.
On Saturday, April 28, nine offenders identified as members of the Conservative Vice Lords street gang were arrested as police shut down drug sales and seized heroin with a street value of $3,000, plus $6,700 in cash after observing and stopping the vehicle of a convicted narcotics offender.
