3 ARRESTED IN WEST SIDE ARMED ROBBERY
Akeem J. Manago, 18, of the 1200 block of West 14th Street, was arrested and charged with one count of felony Aggravated Battery-Public Place, one count of felony Robbery-Armed/Other Dangerous Weapon, one count of felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Aggravated Veh. Or Concealed, and misdemeanor counts of Firearm without valid FOID and Possession of Ammunition without valid FOID.
Christopher Jackson, 17, of the 4300 block of West Gladys Street, was arrested and charged with one count of felony Aggravated Battery-Public Place, and one felony count of Robbery-Armed/Other Dangerous Weapon.
A 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested and charged with a felony Robbery-Armed/Other Dangerous Weapon and one count of felony Aggravated Battery-Public Place.
ST. PAUL LUTHERAN SCHOOL HOSTS MOTHER/SON & FATHER/DAUGHTER GALA TO END SCHOOL YEAR
Parents taught children the classic dance steps and kids schooled their parents on some new moves as St. Paul Lutheran School, 846 North Menard Avenue, brought families together for an unusual festive social event. About 100 people attended the big dance. Where fathers or mothers were unavailable, uncles, aunts, and grandparents filled in.
NEIGHBORS & FAMILY RENAME RICE STREET IN HONOR OF COMMUNITY ACTIVIST RUBY LEE
Ruby Lee was the heart of her Austin neighborhood along Rice Street west of Mayfield Avenue. She was the glue that held together her community and her family. She headed the block club for many years and galvanized local residents to maintain high standards for the neighborhood.
On June 4, Ruby Lee’s family and friends came out on the street she loved so much to unveil an honorary street sign in her honor and to fondly remember their matriarch and village elder.
