FOOTBALL PLAYERS BRING CHRISTMAS TO RESIDENTS OF SHELTER WHERE THEY ONCE LIVED

Michael “The Fridge” Hammond, #92, and James “The Beast” Hammond, #69, give words of encouragement to the Williams family at Cornerstone Family Shelter, where the semi-pro football players for the Kane County Chaos lived when they were children. The Hammonds brought boxes of toys & Christmas gifts for the Cornerstone Shelter residents.

This week, as families were sitting down to dinner at Cornerstone Family Shelter, 4629 North Clinton, they were surprised by a visit from two football players on the Kane County Chaos semi-pro team. Michael “The Fridge” Hammond, #92, and James “The Beast” Hammond, #69, brought carloads of toys, clothes, hats, scarves, purses, and other gifts for residents of the shelter to brighten their Christmas.
The reason Michael and James selected this particular shelter is because they and their family lived at Cornerstone years ago when they had nowhere else to turn. They remember the help they received in their time of need and decided to give back by bringing some happiness into the lives of the current generation of shelter residents.
“We wanted to give back to the place we used to call home,” explain the two successful football players. “Now that we are living in Austin, we are more than happy to give back and help others who are in the same situation we once were.”
